Keep your Hills job, Heidi.
At the 2009 Miss Universe pageant this week, Heidi Montag Pratt showcased her pop star skills — or lack thereof. The beginning of it is reminiscent of Britney Spears’ Video Music Awards (VMA) performance of nine years prior.
Much like Spears did, Pratt sashays onto the stage in tight flesh tone stretch pants and a black blazer. Barely 30 seconds into the performance, Pratt rips off the blazer to reveal a flesh tone bustier (that showed off her boob job) to match the pants.
The black stripes down the sides of the outfit served the sole purpose of distinguishing Pratt’s and Spears’ ensembles.
But that’s not the only difference here. Spears actually had good dance moves and executed them well. Pratt, on the other hand, looks almost awkward at points. Whether she’d just learend her dances the day before or all those beautiful pageant contestants were making her feel self-conscious, hitting certain poses just wasn’t working for Pratt.
To give Mrs. Spencer some credit, the song itself is relatively catchy. It’s got a steady beat and has that element of making a woman feel good courting a man.
Many were probably begging to read Pratt’s body language.
The performance as a whole was just not impressive. Lip-synching is one thing, but you could barely even see Pratt’s lips moving. Her “thank you” line when she was finished almost sounded pre-recorded. Whatever made her think she has what it takes to be a pop star is a mystery to me.
Her voice isn’t captivating, her moves are awkward gyrations and her stylist should go back to fashion school. I hope her fiancĂ© Spencer Pratt wasn’t sniggering under his breath backstage. He probably wasn’t though, because his rap is featured on the original version of the song.
Talk about an awkward couple. I say stick to reality TV.
