So if you’ve seen my previous posts you’ll come across one I did on pop star Jesse McCartney. He was working on a new album, Have It All, which will be his fourth full-length studio release. In late 2010 Jesse did a ton of promo for it; he did interviews with numerous radio stations and performed new songs at several holiday Jingle Balls. For J-Mac fans it was heaven; we were ready to swarm the record stores on December 28. We were ready to hear his sultry voice coming out of our speakers! It was new Jesse music like none we’ve heard before and we were ecstatic.
Then Jesse took to Facebook admitting that Have It All was being pushed back to 2011. For me personally, I wasn’t worried. It wasn’t the first time I’d heard of an album being pushed back and since he’d been tweeting relentlessly about completing the album a while back I was expecting it to come pretty quickly. So I kept myself prepared; I tried to keep my money ready and everything. I wanted to support him and hear his new music!
Now it’s February 2012 and the album is still no where in sight. He’s been working some; Wanted By Jesse, his fragrance for women, hit shelves before the holidays in 2011 and he’s slated to appear on CSI this season. But what about the music, his ‘supposed’ first passion? The album shouldn’t be forgotten.
The hype he generated has long since died down. Only the hardcore Jesse fans will still be interested in checking out Have It All. The point of the performances and radio show appearances was to generate buzz, to alert people to the upcoming record. Will he do it all over again? Promoting your album is almost as important as creating it.
Hopefully he’ll bring out Have It All this year. On his Facebook page you can hear a snippet of one song that was supposed to be on it called “One Night.” You can also search YouTube for some of his performances from the 2010 holiday season.
J-Mac fans, sit tight; I’m sure Have It All will be worth the long and brutal wait.
