It’s no secret Amy Lee’s voice is that of an angel. Since 2003 she’s been gracing the mainstream with her beautiful melodies and she’s not done yet.
Violinist Lindsey Stirling just released a new album, Artemis, and got Amy’s help with one of the singles. “Love Goes On and On” is a beautiful blend of electronic and classic with these two songstresses. Lindsey starts the journey with a tune that will both melt and break your heart. Then Amy lays vocals on top like smooth whipped icing on a cake.
Amy just sings to match the beat at first, no lyrics. But that’s the beauty of her – she doesn’t need words to make you feel what her heart is saying. The tune is filled with both sorrow and hope; “There’s an old familiar silence when I’m lost inside my heart.” This sounds like the Evanescence of old and for people who went through their teen years with them, you’ll get a hint of nostalgia.
The new touch is the classical feel that Lindsey Stirling brings and putting them together is a match made in heaven. Poignant songs are a specialty of Amy’s, but the feel of this one is slightly different because of the lack of forlorn. “So I call upon my angels / are you still there?” feels like a lyric that would’ve come from The Open Door, Evanescence’s sophomore album.
Lindsey lent her skills to Evanescence’s last album, Synthesis, which brought the classical and electronic worlds together by remixing their old hits with an orchestra. “Hi Lo” featured Lindsey on violin and I’m glad their collaborations didn’t stop there.
Lindsey did an incredible job on the rest of Artemis as well – if you wanna check it out you can stream it on Spotify and Apple Music.
