I’ll use this section to write a little bio of my professional career in journalism.
I’ve been reporting and writing for several years. I wrote stories for my high school’s newspaper, which is where my professional work began. When I graduated from Cass Tech I went onto Michigan State to major in journalism. Although I never became an official, paid reporter for The State News (I did volunteer stories) I did become a steady writer for The Big Green.
During the summer of 2008 I did an internship with Model D in Detroit. I wrote two major 1,000-word features for them, as well as several small press-release pieces. Since then I have been on a vigorous journalism career search while working in a law firm as a secretary.
Most recently I have met with Lou Farrell from the Gazette News in Detroit and I am hoping to join his staff very soon. I will be writing pieces on the Detroit community (schools, businesses, etc.) and I will be paid. If any other job prospects come into play I will post it here. Check back for updates soon!
