I’ll elaborate on my educational background here.
I attended Golightly Educational Center in Detroit until the 8th grade, and from there went onto Cass Tech High School. Our concentrations were what we called a “curriculum,” and my focus was Arts & Communications. I did work for Cass’s newspaper CT Visionary, and I was also a part of our magazine CT Expressions. My grades were more or less steady and I graduated in 2004.
From Cass Tech I went on to Michigan State University, where I majored in Journalism. I did have an extra focus in Sociology, but journalism was my direction. I took different types of classes, from page design and graphics to news and the law. I also took international journalism, to get an idea of how the rest of the world approached it.
I graduated from MSU in May 2008 and received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in August 2008, after my internship with Model D.
I am currently considering Graduate School but also on a career hunt, working some with the Gazette News. Experience is what counts in the field of journalism and if I can ease my way into the professional world of reporting than I will be more than happy.
